Cowboys of Tombstone by L. A.Keller

It was bound to happen, only I've been missing it for the last ten years - Wyatt Earp is back in the saddle and heading out on a vendetta ride.  Hitch up your wagon and head to Tombstone, Arizona to join the action.

This is the tenth annual Wyatt Earp's Vendetta Ride which is being held this year from October 14th through the 18th. If you love the old west history and feel like spending some time in the saddle, this adventure trip is for you. If you want an 'old west' experience and to relive Wyatt Earp's gun fight at the OK Corral, Tombstone is a fun place to visit.  There aren't many options for accommodations so if you are going to visit, plan ahead.

Tombstone is small, only a few blocks long and a few blocks wide so don't plan to spend more than a few days for the complete experience. Driving from Phoenix it takes just over three hours.  It's only an hour from Tucson so I would recommend combining trips and taking in the sights of Tucson and Tombstone.

On the outskirts of Tombstone you can visit the Boot Hill cemetery and make sure to visit the Bird Cage Museum.

Here is the information from the website (link provided below):

A five- day historic horseback ride and tour focusing on Wyatt Earp’s Vendetta Ride of March/April 1882. The ride traces the trail of retribution against the Cowboy faction just after the death of Morgan Earp who was shot in the back and the attempt on Virgil’s life which left his left arm useless for the rest of his life.

With the town of Tombstone serving as an excellent backdrop for our historic ride, Great American Adventures (GAA) transports you back in time to locales few individuals have visited, especially as an organized group of riders.

Travel to the Chiricahua, Dragoon and Whetstone Mountains, through the high country surrounding Tombstone. Ride to the controversial – and virtually unknown – site where Wyatt and his posse stumbled upon the Cowboys, engaged in a deadly, gun-blazin’ spew of lead with the resultant death of Curly Bill Brocius… or did he actually die by Wyatt’s shotgun blast?  Our well-informed Tombstone historian will examine the locale’s questionable site based on descriptions given in Wyatt’s biography, and will discuss Curly Bill’s demise.

We’ll also visit Johnny Ringo’s haunted grave-site… was it suicide or did Wyatt and Doc return for their final Vendetta coup-de-grace?
