Hurricanes - the bettter kind by L. A. Keller
We are nearing the end of hurricane season so I thought it would be appropriate to have a cocktail. According to my sources, some brave souls hold hurricane parties when the threat is looming. That sounds a bit crazy but with the right food and drinks I imagine it would be fun - until it's not!
Hurricane
1 ounce light rum
1 ounce dark rum
2 tablespoons passion fruit syrup - you can buy this ready made
1 teaspoon lime juice - fresh squeezed is preferred
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker, half filled with ice.
Shake well
Strain into a cocktail glass
Garnish with a twist of lime
For the non-alcoholic version
2 ounces passion fruit syrup
1 ounce lime juice
Club soda or lemon/lime soda
Combine syrup and lime juice in a mixing glass with ice
Top off with soda
Garnish with a wedge of lime or a twist of lemon
Remember to always drink responsibly.
