Tropical Wave by L. A. Keller

This month's cocktail recipe is a splash of summer on the beach.  Tropical Wave will transport you to the seaside, even if you are in the desert. One of the great things about this recipe is that you can easily change it around with different liquors or juices - fresh or frozen.

1/2 ounce vodka - feel free to use regular or flavored for extra kick
1/2 ounce rum - light or dark
1/2 ounce gin - I do not enjoy the taste of gin so I leave this out of my personal version
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
1/2 ounce grenadine
2 ounces pineapple juice
1 ounce cranberry juice

Maraschino cherries - optional garnish
pineapple slices - optional garnish
orange slices - optional garnish

Combine ingredients in a shaker half filled with ice.
Shake well.
Pour into a highball or Collins glass over ice.  You can use crushed ice rather than cubes if you want it to be more slushy.
Garnish with fruit

To make a frozen version, use frozen pineapple juice concentrate.  You can substitute orange juice, limeade or any flavor sorbet.

This recipe makes one cocktail so make sure to increase it if you have a group.

Happy Trails,

Leslie
